Avoiding the issue

There's a movement afoot to increase pool fees (NHR, by Luther Turmelle). I'm not sure whether I'll support a fee increase or not. To me, it just seems like it's missing the whole point: the bubble and the energy costs.

From the article:

under the proposed 2008-09 town budget, the operating subsidy the pool gets from the Parks and Recreation Department budget is increasing from $416,000 to $435,226.

Increasing the fees is an exercise in foolishness. Higher prices bring less people and in turn will bring very little to no increase in revenue.

Ceccollini says he doesn think a $30 increase from $300 to $330 is going to kill anybody, His exacts words according the the quote. We ll gee thanks Mr. Ceccollini for reaching into my wallet and taking an extra $30. I got some advice for ya pal, how bout doing a better job managing your department, Our parks particularly the baseball fields at Bartlem are a disgrace. Your the guy in charge, what exactly are you doing. And since he doesnt value my $30 that much, fine, $30 extra wont kill for the pool pass. When can I pick up your personal check made out to me for the extra $30? I mean, you said, $30 wont kill anyone, so you must have it to fork over.

What a jerk....

I agree increasing the fees will hurt the situation even more. Put a "roof" over it.
