Budget basics: cash in and out

First you have the cash coming into the town... which is primarily funded with property taxes... that's the big blue pac-man that's gobbling up all the other taxes...

Then there's the cash going out of the town:
Sorry I can't find the budget schedule handy, but there is another budget meeting tomorrow night at town hall.

And on an unrelated note... the Cheshire GOP will be having its annual Spaghetti Supper fundraiser at the Cheshire Academy Commons this Friday from 5:30pm - 7:30pm. Or if you're interested in meeting one of the candidates running for the CT-5 this year, Dave Cappiello (R) will be at the Notch this Sunday, March 16 from 8:15am to 9:30am and Chris Murphy (D) will be having his green eggs and ham at Paul's Restaurant on St. Paddy's Day from 8am to 10am.

Unfortunately nobody showed up for this budget work shop. The bottom line is the fact that the town has a 1.9 million surplus this year and it could grow. 450,000 is applied to MM bubget. The question is what will be done with the balance. If you have an opinion show up at the public hearing. Anonymous comments on Tim Whites blog are meaningless. The public hearing will be on 3-18-08

What time are the meetings?

There is a meeting tonite at 6 another one on 3-17 at 6 and the public hearing is on 3-18 at 7:30. The meeting on the education bubget is after the public hearing on 3-19 which seems odd.If the reserve is kept at 8%.and the balance was used to reduce the mill rate a reduction of a least 0.4 in the mill rate could be realized.

10:31 I'm planning to find my bgt schedule this w/e and post it. I've just been running on empty this week... that is, for the time I've been running... and not laid up in bed with this flu/bug.
