Council agenda

There's not a lot of new business on the agenda for next week... only two items.

1) discussion and action re: bid waiver for the installation of water mains and hydrants on Radmere Road.

2) discussion and action re: Cheshire (schools) Administrative Personnel contract, possible executive session.

The meeting will probably be one of the shorter meetings of the year. And if you want to see it, you will need to attend. According to Channel 14, this meeting is not scheduled to be televised.

Tim White
Town Council, 4th District

I didn't realize the Council had a say in the school's administrative contracts. What's with that?

I think it's the same as with the teachers' contract. The council approves, rejects or does not comment... which is the same as approving.

The contract includes medical, co-pays and 3.5%/yr raise for each of three years.

Why does the town have to pay for expanding the water line? The regional water company should be paying for it since they will be getting more customers.

Also, the regional water company should be paying for the water it pumps out of the Cheshire acquifer.

The Town Council is also the fiscal body of Cheshire. It can tax and spend thus the contract discussions although they can't do much because of binding arbitration.......
