WPCA Increases Operating Costs

Quinnipiac University student Chris Pierpont attended the April 10 Council meeting. From that meeting and elsewhere, Chris compiled this short clip (1:39) on some of the issues facing the WPCA.

Can somebody please explain to me why it is the Cheshire Fire Department's responsibility to pump out my flooded basement. I always thought it was my responsibility. BTW, unlike hundreds of others, I did not call the Cheshire FD to pump out my basement, I dealt with it myself. However, unless someone can explain this to me, I think I will call the FD next time.

It seems like it took the Democratic majority to get some real action on this issue, for all you Schrumm lovers he was the liaison to WPCA in the last council session, and what did we get-nothing nada Zip.

So much for Mr Cheshire handling all the problems and know all tell all. Thanks for nothing!!

Elizabeth Esty is asking lots of good questions about All-Things-Sewer. And there are lots of questions to ask... hence the possibility of outside help.

As a member of the budget committee, one thing I'd very much like to see happen is for the WPCA to do an RFP for upcoming work. I can't speak for the other members of the budget committee (Elizabeth and Mike Ecke), but my sense is that they feel the same way.

10:11 Consultants, consultants, consultants...seems Ms. Cheshire and her fellow dems like spending our tax dollars on consultants. Thanks for nothing!

Lets get some answers not some over blown stuff from some who think they know it all and can't admit when they are dead wrong.

There are many people in this town who are elderly and living alone. They might also be disable. Thank the vol. fire dept. They always do a great job. I am sure all the people are grateful and wish they never needed to call them. There are also safety issues when basements get flooded. It's great that people like yourself take care of your own problem but someday you never know.

Does anyone think that the state prison places a hardship on our sewer system? I do. What can Schrumm or Esty do about it? They are only two. Think of all the the other people who flush!!!!
The system is old. Our town has grown. The prison has grown..$$$$$
Maybe we should require any new growth to be serviced by septic systems(the cost would be on developers dime not the towns). They worked for a long time. The water would be returned to the ground and not to Long Island sound.

Good thing the Democrats have taken this problem seriously instead of the go along Republicans.
Who was the liaison to the Water Pol Control Was it Schrumm>>!!??
Maybe this is his way of being on top of it but it seems very lacking to me

Yes I noticed that too-how come Schrumm was liaison he did not attend the meetings and brought nothing to the council's attention and did not warn us of the problems. He does not do his homework and he is not the on top of it man everyone thinks.

Should the WPCA be on top of this? How about our Town engineer? Most of the TC members don't have a degree in this ----. Let's throw stones at the messenger who ever it is. Let's blame all this rain on the TC. We never offer any solutions. A lot of BS is floating around in town.

4:12 Esty asks questions. Schrumm does not ask questions.

Schrumm looks bad. Esty looks good (wink, wink).

A fact. Mrs. Esty wins beauty contest vs Mr. Schrumm.
