Turf warming?
Do you:
oppose turf at the high school
yet
support efforts to end global warming?
If so, you may want to contact attorney Guive Mirfendereski of Newton, Mass. He says
artificial turf contributes to global warming by reflecting heat. Moreover, the materials used to make and clean it pollute drinking water, and the turf itself is not biodegradable (WRA editorial).I have no idea if it's true. But I thought it's an interesting angle on two topics that both seem to generate discussion here every time they get mentioned.

Artificial turf ads to global warming.....whats next.....swimming pools with heaters are doing so as well.....how about the use of heat guns at constructions sites?...Absurd....these people are nuts....
I don't know about turf contributing to global warming, but I do know we do not NEED turf at the high school. I thought this issue was dead and it should stay that way.

Turf is coming to the High School and there aint nothing you can do about it
I'm sick of these teeny bops parroting Al Gore's doom and gloom and then demanding free parking for thei 14mpg SUV's at CHS, and now demanding taxpayer funded astro turf.
Want to really "save the planet". Stop wasting so much of it frivolously
The state won't pay for it and the town won't pay for it so don't worry until someone writes a $800k check this in a non-issue.

Instead of turf how about we do something about the poor quality of baseball fields for the town little leagues? The fields are poorly maintained by the wonderful town we pay such rich taxes to. I just am astonished at how poorly the fields are maintained....
I do not agree with the turf, but I sure do not agree with the misplcaed logic this lady states.
I can't wait for opening night on the turf. It will be a great night for all and the town will all come out to support it!

I am may not support turf, but bad baseball fields that is a joke. Have you seen the lax/football/band field, it may be the worst in the state!
The reason the main field at the high school is in such bad condition is an attempt to use the bad condition as a driver to get the turf. Ray Charles can see this one. A common approach by the school system, if they cannot get what they want they let things slide and fail to justify their requests. They also will say they are saving money on field maintenance because the Town Council took away some of their money. Ir is all a joke and the fools in town fall for it.

My sentiments exactly!
Whatever the reason the field is bad and since the turf is not going to happen, we should do something to make the field better.
anon 1:59 Makes great sense. I love football on a great looking grass field. The uniforms get a little dirty but you can tell who is playing hard by their uniforms. Love it....
Seymour voted two to one against spending $850K on turf.
