Budget PH 4/3

The second public hearing on the budget was held tonight. I believe 5ive people spoke. And to make a long story short... there doesn't seem to be much concern about the budget. My guess is that most people are ok with the proposed 1.66% tax increase (with maintained or increased services). Personally, while I always want to reduce taxes, I'm ok with the proposed budget. Instead, I'm hoping that we can avoid the increases in services. But hey, that's just me. Without five votes... nothing happens.

The Democrats have really outdone the R's here. Schrumm thought that if he was not the chair of the budget the whole town was going to fall apart. DID NOT HAPPEN!!! THE DEMS ACTUALLY DID BETTER!!!
And now schrumm can only say that the .45 mill increase could be lower. But his budgets were never this low

Why can't we have a zero mill rate increase?

If a tax increase of 99 bucks a year for the average house which is about 8 bucks a month was proposed by the R's you would hear all about fiscally conservative free market unfunded mandates and the like. Because the dems did this we are going to say "cut more"
give me the biggest break old timer???

R's & D's . Young and old. What's the difference? All of us are in the same boat. If the taxes could be Zero. WE all benefit !!!!! No programs will cut. Check out the details on the budget....

What's this old timer garbage. Young and old suffer with increases to taxes. This year both parties should get together and agree that a zero mill increase can be done TO THE BENEFIT OF ALL!

Back off old timer=you got your tax break.

I think that BOE needs more money to educate the children and this budget fails to do that. Why can't the BOE get the money they need?

Wow-99 bucks a year for a tax hike
Who are these wonderful democrats
I will bet you that the Republicans are scratching their heads wondering if there are any issues to run on. Maybe they should just "name names" and "write a check"

5:57 You must be kidding, right?

8:34 OK Mike, you can sign your name. And wipe that dumb look off your face.

10:18 I agree - it should be no increase.

Can some one explain what the Dem's have done (not just by being the majority) or the Rep's that has impacted the surplus and growth in the grand list in Cheshire?? Anyone please.

What has anyone done? It has been good planning by Michael M.

11:42 Did MM have a hand in the collection rate because he is responsible for the Tax Collector or is it the taxpayers of Cheshire that pay their bills?? Did he add to his home value? Yes he is a good-great Town manager and keeps watch of our money. The people in this community should get some credit that's all I'm saying. We pay our share and hope that we all can be proud of where we live.

I guess that we should all be thanked for paying our legal obligations? Ok thank you.

It is a great town because people work hard and make a difference.
