Elim Park donations
As described in this WRA article (by Lauresha Xhihani), Elim Park donates annually to the Town:
The nonprofit faith-based retirement home has property at 140 Cook Hill Road assessed at $25 million but is exempt from the $701,234 in taxes it would ordinarily pay. Yet each year like clockwork, Elim Park gives its thanks. Unlike other nonprofits in town that make token donations, Elim Park's donations are significant.Tim White

Did you read this weeks Cheshire Herald editorial? It appears the Town of Cheshire would like to start including this gift money in their budgets. The intent was to donate it and have for instance the Police Chief, Fire Chief Park and Rec Director etc use it for items that they deem necessary, but do not always have money in their budgets for. The Town needs to keep it that way. A gift is a gift. Don't start counting on these gifts as income. Let it be used for what it was intended.
Yes, it's a gift. How the money is spent and why is the question. The department heads seem to spend it on wish lists and not what's best. Meanwhile keep the donations coming. We could use them. Let's not scare the donors away.
Wouldn't it be better to have $700K in revenue rather than $350K as a gift? Perhaps, Bozzuto's should consider the tax benefits of faith-based wholesale distribution.
Anon 7:14 Please explain yourself. Exactly what is the PD and/or FD lacking? If you don't use the money for operational expenses, what do you use it for? Get real.
Speaking about Cheshire Herald editorials - most bizarre I have ever read. Hope they find a qualified editor.
I think they have many editors. Their advertisers.
