Caligiuri eyes Murphy

According to Political Insider, Cheshire's newest state Senator, Sam Caligiuri, is considering a 2008 challenge to his predecessor, US Representative Chris Murphy.

I haven't yet formed an opinion on Congressman Chris Murphy. I really haven't heard much of anything about his votes... or about the concerns for which he is advocating... perhaps I've been too busy with the local stuff over his first few months in office? To his credit though, he does seem to be getting back to the district and having events. That's a good thing.

As for Sam... well, I think he's great... knowledgable and an extremely polished speaker. Whenever I hear him speak, it sounds more like he has a common sense, than an ideological, approach. And while either approach can win me over, Sam's style fits him well.

Sam should concentrate on doing the job he was elected for and not worry about his political aspirations in the future. If you domyou job and do it well then election to another or higher office is not a worry.

Chris will pound him in 08 if he runs

I am not so sure. I know them both and I think both would do a great job. It will closer than people think.

Chris's fate is in Nancy Pelosi's hands. Infortunatetly he doesn't mind holding hands with Nancy. We live in a very blue state so he can push a liberal and anti Bush/Iraq agenda and get away with it at least through 2 terms. No matter how good Sam is Chris is in the congressional lock box...our Connecticut tradition 8 to 10 two year terms.

What's wrong with an anti-Bush/Iraq agenda? The man is an idiot and because of that he got us into a stupid war. We have to rely on people like Chis and Nancy Pelosi to try and clean up the mess (if it's possible).

I think that Chris Murphy is a thoughtful, well-spoken individual and hope that he will serve CT well for many years as our congressman. I also hope that Sam Caliguiri eventually becomes our Governor. He is one of the most impressive politicians that I have ever met.

If we need to rely on Murphy and Pelosi methinks the mess is going to be there for a long, long time

Evidently she thinks the Road to Damascus can be picked up at AAA

As least she's looking for a road. Fiddledee (Bush) and Fiddledum (Cheney) can't get out of their own way never mind find a solution to their mess. Cheney still thinks were going to be welcomed like liberators.

Chris is a self-promoting do-nothing who simply wants to be a professional politician. He caught the "political bug" in his teens and has done nothing but run for ever-higher office ever since. Never had a real full time job....I think he had one of those 'Political lawyer" jobs where a friendly law firm provides you with a business card so it appears that you actually work for a living. Moved to different districts so he could run for the next office that he wanted. He moved from "Southington" (where he didn't really live...he lived with his girl friend someplace north of there) a town that was in the first Congressional District (a safe seat for John Larson) so he could run against Nancy Johnson in the fifth. He moved to Cheshire right before the race so he could have a Cheshire address. The local Dem's love to tout him as a "local boy" from Cheshire. Its BS.. absolute BS. This kid is a fraud.
