Connecting the dots and demanding accountability

IMO, today's Herald editorial on the CPD situation was spot on. Catching my attention in particular was the end:

it is a blackeye for everyone that the issues were allowed to fester to such a point... If mediation is to continue, new techniques and new individuals must be utilized. But the Town may be at the point where more permanent action is required, whatever that might be. (Cheshire Herald, March 25, 2010)

But do the Cheshire Town Government's problems end with the CPD?

Not as far as I'm concerned.

Let's not forget the Serenity Ranch development slipping thru in the middle of the night to which Councilman Schrumm wrote:

If the leaders of this community are so cowed into silence by a developer's legal tactic, they should quit and perhaps serve the Town in a capacity where courage in the defense of town residents is not needed. Was it really fear of the lawsuit or a convenient favor to the development community, who makes campaign contributions and provide work for real estate attorneys?

And who can forget hotWatergate and the related allegations of corruption? Personally, I don't think there's any corruption. But there was nearly unbelievable incompetence involved.

At what point do we connect the dots and begin to hold people accountable for their actions?

As I wrote back in October 2009:

If reelected, I will continue to push the Council to deal with the Town's failed management.

How? Wouldn't you need to attend executive session meetings?

Time for a town police commission.

A police commission is an anachronism and is NOT needed here. It brings politics to the absolute last town department that needs it. Madison has a police commission and what a marvelous job they did there!

Tim, I noticed your posts are usually late at night. You should get a girlfriend, you seem very FRUSTRATED.

So, do your part and dont run again. Make the town a better place!

Lets start a petition
All who sign want Tim white to resign as he has not offered any solutions to the problems that face our town
Pool no action
PD no action
taxes no action
fights like a little kid with the town manager
gets along with no on on the council

Tim:

Your doing a great job and that is why you have such strong support in your district. The whiners and complainers are starting their political campaign early, and they have to be kidding themselves, if they think anyone takes them seriously.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are the special interest D's on the council. The comments sound like them.

Above is an example of tim white blogging on his own-making up some comments from some random person who happens to be in support of timi
Could be a family member or could be tim
timmmmy

To all you idiots who don't understand the support Tim gets, give it up.
Look at the numbers that elected him last November.
Believe it or not, there are many of us here who support Tim. It isn't one person.
I am beginning to think it is one person leaving the negative comments on many of these posts.
Just a disgruntled democrat who doesn't know what to do with his time. I am sure you are thrilled that health care was passed too.

Your comments are old and boring. You should realize you are in see it, especially after last November.

Tim puts the information on here that everyone wants to see, then the morons try to rip him apart.

This isn't Tim speaking. This is just another resident honored to have Tim as a representative.

and another example of tim or family member trying to make excuses for tims inability to get anything done for the town of cheshire
if he spent as much time on this blog as he did getting something done maybe we would not have
police dept issues
a better pool
answers for the budget
thnaks for the comments above tim
good try

My God, give it up...
Do you have anything better to do?

Must really be eating at you that Tim has many supporters here. Or do you think he had all his family disguise as voters last November and vot for him?

As for Tim and the police issues, look back at this blog and you will see that Tim had mentioned issues at the CPD, but was told that they shouldn't get invilved by the last TC majority.

So genius, find something else to do with your free time. You aren't gaining any support here.

haha... I agree, but former... not current.

To several of you, thanks for the support. I appreciate it. As for the trolls, whatever. I'm not too concerned about the personal attacks. Nor have I ever been... back as far as I remember. I recall back at Dodd and CHS, if someone said something cruel or insensitive... my reaction was never to feel bad for myself. I just felt bad for whoever was saying something nasty... wondering what had happened to make them feel so little... that they felt big by making cruel comments. I always figured they must've had some horrible experiences as a child.

Tim
To shut them up about the police issue, show them when you first mentioned that there were issues at CPD.
You were the first concil member to show your concern about the matter and it could have and should have been handled before it blew up to what it is.

Keep up the good work. If it weren't for you, we would all be in the blind about what is happening in this town, even your jealous naysayers.

haha... actually, I think our trolls happen to know all-too-well what's happening in town... as they've been integral in creating the problems.

For the record, I would sign the petition and I am not the person who suggested it. I also live in tims district and am not a Democrat

If there ever was a case study in favor of a police commission it would be Cheshire. A police commission is LONG overdue for the town.

Question is does anyone of the TC have the backbone to bring this up at a town council meeting?

so nutsy decides to leave a profanity laden rant because he dosent like to be called to task, and all comments get deleted. I will expound, he wans a police commission because he thinks he knows best. He dosent have an inkling what it takes to sit on such a board, nor does he have the temperment, civillity, or knowledge. Let him move like he says he's going to and spread ignorance elsewhere.

called to task about what? you are the one is ignorant and you know what mr. e.d. a lot of us are getting sick and tired of you and your cop pals sitting at that police station and making comments and blaming someone who isn't even making the comments. going on blogs 30 to 40 times a day from the same work location means that you have nothing better to do. and if this person is so nutsy why does it bother you. we are glad those documents were released you all look like the spoiled brats you are you are the laughing stock of connecticut and probably the country. keep up the good work. maybe it is time to go to the town council and show them what the cops in cheshire really do all day and night.

WHAT THE HELL IS THAT???? My two year old makes more sense than that comment.

Cindy, a police comission is not the answer. We already have a problem with micro managing and a comission will only add to that. A comission adds to the amount of meetings each month, takes hiring and firing away from the town and the council, takes budget, disipline, and operations away from the chief and the town. A comission will be able to hire anyone they want as a police officer without the towns approval. You are afraid of favortism now, wait until your comissioners hire their friends. That was happening during the last comission. All of the comissioners friends got hired.

Lets make things worse than they are or were.

This is Cindy: First of all I have not made any comments about the police commission in a few years. I gave up because the charter was not changed. I did not make the friends of UTH Comment. All you cops know how to do is bully people. What gives you the right? Just because someone else makes a comment about a police commission doesn't mean I MADE IT. And your comments don't make sense, you are a mental case, my two year old-come up with something else WILL YOU?? ANY TIME YOU COPS WANT TO MEET ME AND DISCUSS THESE ISSUES LET ME KNOW I WILL BE THERE. KNOW WE HAVE TO MONITOR THIS BLOG AGAIN. IF OTHER OTHER PEOPLE WANT TO GET STEPPED ON AND SLANDERED FINE I WON'T LET IT HAPPEN.

The town PD is in a over polarized state. Go read the info provided to the public by the MRJ. The multi-page grievance published by the paper says it all.

You say there is a problem with micro managing but when one reads that stuff in the MRJ it seems clear that there is no management of anything at all. It also seems clear that the PD has organized itself into an us vs. them scenario right out of the big league union play book from yester-year.

A town police commission might just go a long way toward protecting the forgotten citizens of the town against the excesses and waste being generated daily by the type of meaningless workplace unrest seemingly going on at the PD currently under our quiet status quo government and what comes across as a mean spirited labor union doing its best to manipulate things in its selfish favor.
