Justin Adinolfi resigns
First Peter Massey, then me and now Justin Adinolfi resigned. The online MRJ article doesn't give any details. Can anyone provide them? And has the Council decided on a new 4th District Council member?
As for me, I've got some juice left in my laptop battery. So I logged on for a minute, but am about to logoff. Neither I nor anyone else in Jeremie has city power tonight. I kinda like it. The night sky is simply beautiful and relaxing.

The next at-large Dem in line, per the 2009 vote, would be Matt Altieri. Ugh, say it ain't so.
OMG---
No, we can't have him.
How do they choose?
Could Este or Dill be possible replacements??
I dont think its automatic that the next highest vote getter takes the seat. I think the Dem town committee gets a say, and the Council has to approve. The Democrats may well want to bypass Altieri with all his baggage and choose someone who can get elected in 2011.
He has a new job with Cognizant, a global IT consulting firm, which requires him to travel...a LOT! Cognizant is a great IT firm to work for.

So whoever the Dems pick to replace Justin, neither of the two council Dems will be elected.
I hope they do pick Altieri ... like the congressional Dems picking Pelosi with her 8% approval rating, makes it easier for Republicans to be reelected.
Hurray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best news of the year. We won't have to listen to him anymore, blah, blah, blah.... He's no longer Cheshire's problem.
Thank you Cognizant.
I congratulate Justin. Frankly, I liked him on the Council because he brought new ideas to the table. Whether one agreed or disagreed with his idea, he brought ideas. And I'm a believer that it should be about ideas... not popularity / name recognition, etc.
As for his replacement, I believe a Dem appointment follows the same track as a GOP appointment:
DTC Nominating Committee recommends to DTC;
DTC recommends to Ecke;
Ecke will nominate the person.
The Council would need five votes in favor, but most people would probably get the full support of the Council. I can think of one 2009 Dem candidate who I'm certain would be unacceptable to the Council... aside from him though...
Sheldon Dill and Matt Altieri are probably possibilities.
With regard to Elizabeth Esty, I'd say she's the front runner because she could probably get the necessary support IF she wants it. But that's a big if. Assuming I'm correct and she'll run for office again, then she's got a decision to make. If she runs for the 103rd, then the Council seat makes sense. It maintains her visibility and she doesn't need to focus a great deal of time on fundraising. On the other hand, if she's planning on running for Congress -- and I think she has a real shot at getting the Dem nomination for the CT-5 -- she'll need a lot more time to raise money... and the Council seat wouldn't do much to raise her visibility in the 41 towns. So FWIW, I think this Dem appointment will be a pretty clear indication of what she's planning for 2012.
As for who else... dunno. But it is at-large. So it could be anyone in town... I bet David Schrumm would love it to be his old philosophical sparring partner, former Councilman Tony Pepper.
Esty would love to be on the council so she can spend the next two years organizing smear campaigns against Republicans. That is her expertise.
Can the seat simply be left empty? It would be no different. How about a puppet or Muppet instead? Ecke can pull the strings, it'll give him something to do during the meetings.

This is one of the lamest things I have seen posted here. Besides, no need for a "smear" when you do yourself in with such a ridiculous statement.

Sadly though, it's true. Like it or not, Esty is famous for smearing Republicans but Ecke and Adinolfi are just as guilty during their time on the TC.
Perhaps if the D's channeled their tantrums towards solving the town's problems...it may help them and the town. Just saying.
With Justin gone, someone will have to represent W/S, the realtors, the developers, the local engineering firm, our local plumber, and sloppy architects.
Well, I hope they get someone soon. Ecke will need someone to chit chat with during the meetings. Or maybe he'll just keep playing with his phone. Then again if you get good snacks he won't care either way.
when are they going to replace tim white?
Tim
Why isn't your seat being offered to Tony Perugini?
He would be a perfect replacement.
Re: Tony
I'm not sure who it'll be. Regardless, I'm pretty sure Tony doesn't live in the 4th. The general rule is that one must live in a district to represent a district.
But here are two exceptions I recall:
1) Live in a district & represent a district... then move out of the district, but still live in Cheshire. One is allowed to fufill the term, but not run for reelection.
2) If your name is Sam Gejdenson, you represent the 2nd Congressional district while living in the 3rd Congressional district... oh wait... Rob Simmons learned that in 2000 and the voters felt that wasn't an allowable exception... haha...
I've heard a similar story of a state legislator representing Waterbury who lives in another district. But I really don't know the details of that one.
Thanks for the vote of confidence but as I said in my blog I need to fulfill my obligation on the BOE...there's much to do and I intend on fulfilling my election promises by 2013. Additionally, the replacement for Tim's seat must come from the 4th district and should be someone known in the 4th district and can spend the necessary time with the 4th district constituents.
