Booming economy?
We've got some new businesses coming to town (WRA, by Lauresha Xhihani). I guess that new Chamber Director really knows what he's doing... he just needs to remember to bring all the new business to the south end of town. That way I can run ads next fall talking about how I "reduced unemployment" and "increased jobs" in the 4th District. Ha!

Where in the article does it give credit to the Chamber Director?
It doesn't. And other than the link to the article, this post was me just joking around. My apologies if I was unclear about that.
A new business, great. A high hotel for pets, just what we need. Maybe they will take in the feral cats. We seem to not want to deal with senior tax credit and other issues, but we give a tax break, although small, to a cathouse. We are considering spending 160k per year for 3 yrs to fund a start up farming business on the Boulder Knoll farm. How many of us would like the Town to fund one of our new start up businesses? A great deal if we can get it.
What's this 160K for 3 yrs for a farming business at Boulder Knoll all about?? Is it for the community farm I've heard they want to start where people buy a section to farm some crops? I don't think any of that is a good idea as it will just take business away from the farms we have in town. Someone explain, please.
anon 7:32 & 10:15...
I missed the Boulder Knoll farm meeting, but do know this:
The town requested proposals for use of the property and got two responses... one was from the boulder knoll group and the other was from an individual here in town.
I hadn't heard about the proposed annual costs of $160k, but was personally told by the other individual about his project... and I don't see how his project costs the town any money... it's intended as a fundraiser.
As for spending $160k annually though, I doubt that will happen. I mean, the $200k barn seems to have unofficially died and that's a one time expense. So I find it hard to believe that the town would add $160k per year for a farm... particularly if it's in direct competition with local businesses.
