Senate map

Check out this link to CT Local Politics for a glimpse at the town by town breakdown of the results for the Democratic primary for Senate. Interestingly, Lamont is blue and the "independent Democrat" is purple.

On the news at noon today I heard that Lamont's daughter's vote was "disqualified". On Aug. 8th I had seen both him and his daughter on the news in a voting booth as she cast her vote. I didn't think two people could be in a voting booth at the same time...but that's not the reason her vote was disqualified. Seems she's registered as "unaffiliated." How could neither of them realize that she shouldn't have voted?! I wonder if this could be a common occurence where unaffiliated voters could actually cast their votes in a primary.

Over on CTLP I read what may very well be the real story… Ned’s daughter cast a provisional ballot and the ballot was later rejected by a “senior” election official. That seems plausible. As for her being in the voting booth, my mom always used to bring me in the voting booth with her when I was little. So I imagine that election officials are allowed to use discretion in who enters the voting booth.

While something alarming or even illegal may have happened, I’d venture a guess that whatever did happen is probably not a big deal. Or we’d be seeing much more about it in the press.
