Open Forum 6/11

Cheshire's own Abbate family (The Cheshire Herald, by Kristen Malinowski) has two people running for office this fall.

I've set up a meeting among "interested stakeholders" for discussion of the Route 42 reconstruction project. It's scheduled for this Wednesday @ 7pm in Town Hall. My goal is understand where the project stands, where it is heading and how the project can be expedited.

My 89th District Republican primary opponent has agreed to a debate. The League of Women Voters is scheduling the debate. I'm not yet sure when it will happen, although it will most likely take place in Cheshire Town Hall.

And here is a letter (lower right corner) I wrote that was published in the monthly Prospect Pages. This seems to be the only paper that has its letters to the editor online.

Ned Lamont continues to gain the support of the blogosphere.

What is anyone to do? It's private property if the owners want to sell, they have that right.

and is the town going to do anything to buy if another McMansion attack is planned?

Better having large homes instead of a bunch of little ones. Maybe we can buy the land and let the new ball field consultant the town just approved design us some new ballfields. That way they can play ball 24 hrs a day and maybe even a third league can pop up and begin recruiting players with full page ads in the Herald. I'll take the McMansions. Bishops: thanks for the years of hard work...we have a photo of my daughter when she was 3 on a pony ride..ten yrs ago..one of many nice visits we had there

That's the point, Cheshire's agriculutral heritage is what makes this town different from all the other communities around.

If I wanted to to live in an overdeveloped high end communtiy with recreational facilities up the yazoo and sky high real estate taxes to subsidize them ...well West Hartford is a much shorter commute
