Public hearing and Council vote on the pool
On Tuesday night the Council will first hold a public hearing, then vote on sending the $7,068,000 price structure to referendum.
I expect the Council to send the pool to referendum. Here's my tally on
where Council members stand on the pool referendum

I would think that there would be more than one opotion to vote on. I think this is being set up to fail. If the vote goes "no", what happens? Another referendum on a different price?
The (R) majority has apparently decided. Don't you trust them?
At least the R's are doing something about the pool. The voters will decide whether to replace the bubble. If the referendum fails then we can either live with the current bubble a little longer or take it down. This new enclosure could come up again later on for another vote. Didn't the pool itself take a few times voting before it even went through?
Vote or don't vote. If you don't vote don't cry about it later.
I am all for taking care of the pool once and for all....but it costs money to get the vote...

-why do you have to get negative? I am making a simple point. Don't worry about me, I am voting
The fact is that the vote will cost money. $10000 or $20000, who knows?
Our leadership has decided that they can wash their hands of this albatross if they put it out to vote. After the vote, they can put any blame on the public.
Why is there no other option on the ballot? The voting is going to be paid for by the taxpayers either way. Why not put more options out for the public?

My comment was not intended toward you, I know who you are and I know you'll definitely be at the poll. My comment was more of a general service announcement. ;-)
Where are the numbers for users and memberships of the current pool?
I assume that those numbers are not favorable for a new pool structure. If they were, they would be published.
According to other sources, a resident asked an attendant at the pool for some statistics and they said that they were told not to disclose any information. fishy fishy...
I guess if my options are the bubble or the $7 million option...I will go with the $7 million option....it is better in the long run. Without anyother option, I am assuming its the bubble forever or this.
Wrong, that is not the case. If the 7 million is shot down, we will not be keeping the bubble. The pool would then become summer only OR the council will figure out a cheaper alternative and re submit it to the public.
A lot of people in town are suddenly talking about this nightmare of a vote. Everyone that I have overheard is against the new construction
Release the numbers showing the amount of users and votes may change. Hold back info and make the voters ferious
Perhaps Tim can clarify this...if this referendum fails I believe nothing happens with the bubble until the referendum for a replacement bubble is held sometime in 2012? I was under the impression that the current bubble has a 10 year life which would end in 2013. The cost of the replacement bubble would make it a future referendum item, correct Tim? At that point if it fails...I would think seasonal only.
If you got to the TC meeting tonight...bring shorts and tank tops and water...it will be steamy in council chambers.

you don't REALLY think this town is going to spend 7 million on the pool when they just cut 14 teaching jobs, do you?? never happen
The Council can defund or fund as it pleases during its two-yr term... within the confines of the operating budget.
Putting up a vote on this pool enclosure is a waste of taxpayer money. Other than our town council members, I can't find anyone that wants it.
Maybe if the number of current pool users was released, it might support the need for this new facility.
