Nat'l GOP trouble?

With polls showing Republicans looking like they're headed for trouble this fall (AP, by Donna Cassata), if much of the discontent relates to Iraq... it may not be only bad news for the GOP. Joe Lieberman is not the only pro-war Democrat.

Unlikely though the possibility may be, Hillary may also end up with some problems of her own (AP, by Marc Humbert) with a Democrat coming at her from the anti-war left.

BC… I think we’ve stumbled onto something on the Courant website… they have a general link dedicated to “breaking news.” And as of 7am this morning, the breaking news was “Rs in trouble,” but by 2pm the breaking news was “Mitt takes over the big dig.” I could be wrong and I could’ve made an error, but I think that’s the issue… something I’ll keep in mind and you may want to as well when you post over at CLP or elsewhere. (To understand this, go to the Courant homepage and see “latest world/nation” put the mouse to its immediate right and read the URL… it mentions “breaking news.” Anyway… that’s my best guess.)

Romney… don’t know much about him, but am fairly certain that it would be a big deal if he accomplished anything. I believe the MA GA Dem majority far exceeds the CT GA Dem majority… as a percentage. So I wouldn’t expect Mitt to get much done.

I’m not sure about the Senate Rs, but certainly respected Hoekstra’s recent comments.

Tim,

What did you think about the article from "Mayor" Robert J. Chatfield........????

Tim White said...

What article? Do you have a link?

bluecoat neglects the little bit about MA losing population two years in a row....I think calling Mayflower is a pretty powerful political statement

Tim White said...

What is "mayflower?"

Bluecoat; perhaps you could point me to some economic data that associates population decline with economic health?

(leave aside gentrifiying bobo single hangouts like San Fran and Hoboken, a balanced economy they are not)

You harp constantly on Fairfield County being congested. So I suppose you would prefer less business and fewer residents. I could understand that if you then in the same breath did not complain about the state';s job base not growing. It's like complaining about baseball not doing well and proposing the solution as disbanding the Yankees. And yes, the job growth you complain about in the Gold Coast is private sector.( Sorry, time to reprogram the insult machine)

I fear long after Mitt's gone he will be remembered for his verbal complaints about gay marriage and the Big Dig, and his inability to solve either issue

The French have a problem with too much wine. You have the same problem, I fear

Tim, I know you'e never left Cheshire..it is a van line

anon 11:56am... I've always considered Cheshire as my "home base." (My parents grew up here and are still here.) And I've never left Cheshire via a moving van, but when I was younger (early 20s), I lived in Asia from 1995 to 1998.

blue, maybe UTC doesn't like high taxes and antidevelopment attitudes.

then again, you were last seen on this site praising NJ's Jim McGreevey and calling Jon Corzine fiscally responsible, so which is it... you like big liberal government or not?

Once again ol blue raises the white flag. Seems his insult machine ran out of juice, or like many, presumed his audience had a short memory

Tim White said...

BC... thanks. By the way... check back. This primary is just heating up.

I love how Bluecoat loses a debate and then removes evidence of his loss. Sort like why there are few French battle monuments

Ok, yeah, Kevin Sullivan and adult discourse. Bluecoat, the term oxymoron truly is applicable to many of your observations

I'm still trying to ascertain what a Luddite from Fairfield finds interesting in us folks up here in Cheshire, other than his futile efforts to pretend he is brighter than we are

Kevin Sullivan has been as useful as a screen door on a submarine as LG. As Senate President he was known primarily for spending money the state didn;t have, and then using his state taxpayer funded mailings to tell people in WHfd how fiscally responsible he was

frankly, getting kicked out of his little pompous clique wouldn;t be a big deal.

what article......hmmm.....and you are running to represent me? Ok, I forgive you......anyway, it was the letter to the editor from Mayor Bob.......it was directed toward you.....guess you don't read the "prospect pages".....maybe you should pick up a copy once a month if you plan on representing the town along with your town and Bethany....it might not be such a bad idea......

Tim White said...

NotSo... please see p.25 of the Prospect Pages to get a take on how I generally view my candidacy. I agree with Mr. Grippo's comments and firmly believe that I am the most electable candidate.

By the way, I do read the PP. But I don't read the Citizen News every week or Rep-Am everyday. So I really wasn't sure if there was some other article you were talking about.

so, what did you think of emperor bobs comments toward you???

Tim White said...

Notso... I have to ask you to be respectful of everyone here. I want this to be free-flowing forum, but please refrain from name-calling. I simply try to live by the same rules that apply during our Council meetings. As well, I have once before deleted a comment because I found it disrespectful.

Nonetheless, I feel that I'm the most electable candidate.
