Recent inactivity

Sorry I haven't been very active with the blog recently... new posts and such. As you could probably guess, I've been a bit busy doing other campaign-related stuff. Nonetheless, please do feel free to post stuff... regardless of whether it's related to a particular topic. I do still look for comments/questions to which I should respond.

Wondered, Tim, if you could comment on this situation: My sister-in-law has been pressured by the town hall tax office to pay a motor vehicle tax bill (including some deliquent taxes on the same vehicle) for her ex-husband who is the one owning the vehicle(he lives in FL now). Somehow her name was put on the tax bill and the tax office said that they get their info from DMV as far as who's name is to appear on the bill and she has to pay the taxes. She in fact had checked with DMV and they investigated and said her name is NOT (and has never been) on any registration for the vehicle. When she persisted with the town hall staff arguing this tax bill, they ended up basically telling her that they added her name on their own (I suppose in hopes of her paying the bill since they had no luck collecting from her ex in FL). She was put through the ringer with this problem and I wondered if it was "legal" for someone at town hall to just add a name to a bill as it seems they did. Doesn't seem right to me. I know Cheshire has a "great" tax collection rate, but I'd hate to think they regularly resort to tactics like this.

anon... I'm not sure what the law is, but if you'd like, please ask your sister-in-law to give me a call. I'd be more than happy to speak with her.
