Some more web stuff

I've added a few Cheshire related blogs/websites to the left side column:

Cheshire Smart Growth

and

TCE blog (not exclusively Cheshire, but run by a guy who grew up in Cheshire... and his concern is very much related to Cheshire.)

At last a website that exposes W/S's myths for what they really are.

It's an outdoor mall, nothing more.

I went to the Meriden Mall last Saturday when it was raining like crazy and thought how nice it was to get out of rain. Who would want to go to a outdoor mall that offers a fraction of the choices and get soaked in the process.

Very easy then don't go to the development and let people who want to.

The Wall that Heals arrived today down Rte 10 with a motorcade. Interestingly (and appropriately, I thought) flags were put on telephone poles along the route. I thought our Police Chief said this was illegal. Will a certain someone continue to enforce the law and take them down?

To PJ:
The flags on the telephone poles...is there not a time when support for your country has a greater value than tag sale or "stop the mall" signs on the same poles. The Wall that Heals is in no way connected to local political issues. If you disagree with the display of our country's flag on telephone poles owned by a utility...fine. There is a time when people should put aside their personal issues on local laws and either support the short term display of the wall or just quietly keep to themselves.

Is PJ really Ho Chi Minh or General Giap?

Bill,
Did I miss something? Didn't I write that I thought the flags were appropriate? I'm just pointing out the double-standard and the hypocrisy of those that said they tore down the signs because it was "against the law". The law had nothing to do with it. I thought the motorcade and the flags were wonderful and, yes, I will say it again, appropriate.

"The Wall that Heals is in no way connected to local political issues."

Tag sale signs, event signs and Stop the Mall signs have nothing political to them either. This is a form of freedom of speech.

Just because the Democrats are the major supporters of the mall, does not make the issue these signs political issues. The people of Cheshire have the right to voice their concern about issues that they feel will ruin the character of their town and the mall will.
Allowing self serving developers to remove notices of P&Z meetings and any opposing views is wrong and when they removed these notices from private property they broke the law. The town management knows who removed these signs and did nothing. Some people are allowed to break the law and others aren't.

As far as the flags are concerned, put them anywhere you like, it's great.

I love seeing signs all over the place. Democracy is messy. There's nothing wrong with that.

anon1:55 I couln't agree with you more but why are certain people in this town mocking people who have raised questions regarding this proposal?

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE SPRAWLING MALL?

Tell the people who voted for the changes needed by W/S to apply for the development of this sprawling mall, hotel and 160 apartments.

Freedom of Speech does not mean you have the right to appropriate someone else's private property for a message they don;t endorse. We are not Cuba

Is is possible that Westfield is paying for this site?

Anonymous said...

they're not

Anonymous said...

I heard that Westfield is paying for it. Why are they so worried about this project, when as you all say here, it will fail?

Anonymous said...

don't feed into rumors like that. you realize it only costs a few dollars to put up a site, right?

"We are not Cuba"

Your right, this is Cheshire, where the "Good Old Boys" run things for their own good and the "H" with the rest of the people. The "Good Old Boys" have the Town Council Dems doing their bidding and a number of others both elected and employed.

Cheshire is no different from many other town and once you accept it you can then start to understand how things work.
