Gaffey's problems continue
As reported by the MRJs Amanda Falcone:
Citing an opinion by the Office of State Ethics, Democrats say that state Sen. Thomas P. Gaffey's personal relationship with an associate vice chancellor for the Connecticut State University System did not influence a vote in the Senate that benefited the system. Republicans are calling for further investigation and say Gaffey should have disclosed a potential conflict of interest.
In this case, Republicans are right to call for further investigation of Gaffey. The problem is... with the exception of Dave Cappiello (R-Danbury), the Senate GOP was basically silent on the DeLuca scandal. So do they have any credibility?
This is the problem that exists Under the Gold Dome... few people seem to understand... and even fewer people seem express my view that "good government" is more important than ideology or party.
Regardless, if you read the Rennie column, I think you'll agree that this juncture of Sen. Gaffey's love interest and legislation absolutely warrants further investion.

Gaffey's been an ethical disaster for years but since he is on the official payroll of the CRRA and the unofficial payroll of the educational-industrial establishment he is left alone by the powers that be in Hartford.
Here's Gaffey's past...

Two state legislators who work full-time for the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority (CRRA) ran up thousands of dollars in personal expenses over a period of years without having to promptly repay the agency.
The Hartford Courant on April 23 reported that Deputy Senate Majority Leader Thomas P. Gaffey (D-13) of Meriden, ran up a total that reached $11,656 last year, mainly for mileage and cellular phone usage. Since then he has made more than $3,700 in reimbursements, but he still owes the agency $7,926, according to the Courant."
can you provide a link?

What party is in the majority? Until we elect more R'S, Green, or whatever party to the state they will do whatever they want. Majority rules.

The Hartford Courant reports that the AG subpoenas "sought records of any communications between Garden State Paper and three CRRA officials: former CRRA President Robert Wright, CRRA administrative chief Gary Gendron, and Thomas P. Gaffey, the recycling unit chief who also is a Democratic state senator from Meriden."
I notice the AG's office went silent about whether Gaffey did anything wrong.....hmm.....
Wow is bring up old ethics issues like talking about the republicans in Cheshire and the Banker and Banker problems.
