An ash landfill in Cheshire?

Town officials are considering whether to pursue an offer made by the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority to accommodate a landfill for ash that is left over at the agency’s trash burning plants around the state.
Nonnenmacher said that the current amount of ash generated by trash-to-energy facilities that the CRRA operates in Wallingford, Hartford and Preston is about 300,000 tons. State statutes call for any community hosting a publicly owned ash landfill to be paid $5 per ton, he said, which would translate into about $1.5 million a year.

Milone said they would look at it...just like every other town. I'm all for knocking bad ideas but they said they are just looking at it- who wouldnt? I think Tim is playing a little politics here by not adding any other info..
with retail and residential development dead as a doornial right now, maybe those guys from Boston will try and rezone the NE for this...no doubt Marty Coburn and his sock puppet Justin Adinolfi will cheer this idea on....

Perhaps the pool could be the landfill site and then the pool could make money instead of waste money. Or maybe the ash could be spread on the hs fields: a safer ground cover than turf.
This sounds like a no-brainer. What are we waiting for??
Folks...you need to see what is really going on with the land fill idea. The ash land fill itself is not a bad idea. It's feasible and could bring some revenue to the the town. That's NOT the problem with this proposal.
The problem is that Altieri is trying to get the north end re-zoned. It starts with the ash land fill. Once re-zoned...route 10, all of route 10, is now open season on commercial development the town can no longer control.
The ash landfill is yet another diversion tactic from the democrats to trick the public. Milone is looking into it because his master, Altieri, wants it. What Milone should be looking into is the piss-poor performance of his town staff.
My friend who is a family member of a Cheshire cop says that the police officers have indeed voted No Confidence in chief Cruess. She says it was unanimous and that it happened Friday. Tim, what will you and the town do about it?
