Two years in the making...

I understand the photovoltaics (PVs or electric solar panels) have finally arrived at the library and will be installed over the next week. I'm in disbelief that they're actually here.

Finally!! I know that they will work and save us money. Good job by all that signed up for green power in Cheshire. We need more...

It is indeed good to see that an energy improvement is taking place in our town. Let me see if I understand this. If we sign up for Green electricity first of all the DPUC will be certain that it is green electricity which makes it to our specific electric meter so that we can be certain that our consumption of the stuff is, well, GREEN - - just imagine how it would make you feel if in fact you actually were getting electricity made from one of those dirty 6 or 10 very old fossil fueled smoke belchers they talk about. Personally I like it when what I buy is truly delivered to me quickly and without damage. Second, we will pay a premium which is so high that after everyone involved gets their piece of the action the amount left over will be given out for projects such as a small P-V unit on the roof of the library.

Could it be that by proclaiming our greenness none of our premium electric payments will actually go directly to P-V projects like the one on the library roof but our crazy state government will just kind of see to it that money is turned over for this special cause even if our state budget is heading for a really big deficit? And where in CT do we actually make any of this special product in significant quantities anyway? Finding a large 30 year old nuclear plant generating most of our electricity is an easy task. Based on the way our state allows for this plant’s product to be priced we are already paying one heck of a premium. Unfortunately that premium now enriches an out of state company handsomely.
