National Security
The Courant certainly seems to think that there is a direct link between the price of oil and national security. We (America) need to diversify our energy portfolio. I think fuel cells are one way that we can begin to address this need.

Just because companies are marketing ethanol as a way to free ourselves from the dependence on foreign oil doesn't mean it's true at all. According to an NPR report, it takes more than 1 gallon of oil to produce one gallon of ethanol. Lets do our homework before we jump on the ethanol bandwagon. Here are a couple stories of interest on the truth about ethanol.
