Spending per pupil: 142 out of 166

Yesterday I mentioned the much-repeated line:

I am proud of our schools; however, spending less per pupil than 142 of the 166 school systems in the state indicates that there is not a lot of margin for error.

I'm guessing that the CT Office of Policy and Management was the source of that statistic. Here is OPMs list of spending per pupil for the 169 towns in CT... I've sorted by the most recent data available - 2006 / 2007:You may need to click on the image to read it.

Also keep in mind the $850,000 being spent in the Capital Non-Recurring account for 5,006 students when the 2008 / 2009 data becomes available. That is an additional $170 per student.
