This is in addition to the $900,000 of state taxpayer money already dedicated to the project.

This is unbelievable and a total waste of state and local taxes.
There is nothing wrong with W. Main St that a few owners couldn't fix themselves. With private ownership goes responsibility and if a few of these people don't care enough about their properties or businesses, why should we?
The public and the town council should be asking a lot of questions about this total waste of money. How will the P&Z Chairman, Sean Strollo benefit? How will the Bowmans benefit? Why is Matt Bowman the Chairman of the West Main St committee. Who are all the property owners? There has to be a lot more to this story than we are not being told.
Too many questionable things have happened recently, all the zoning changes for the NE with no regard for overwhelming negative aspects, the artificial turf approval, the Norton school boiler fiasco, the F&S bankruptcy, The need for a new Fire Station in the NE and the approach to resolving the pool dilemma.
9:44 is right. Lots of good questions. We shouldn't include any money in the capital budget for West Main St. It's bad enough that $900,000 of our tax dollars are being used on this. And what are we getting for it? Fancy lamp posts and granite curbing? Our tax dollars shouldn't be wasted on this or things like artificial turf!

What about the financial software?
Sounds like you may want to send an email to:

letters@nhregister.com
letters@record-journal.com
news@cheshireherald.com
opinion@rep-am.com
And here's a simple enough question to ask...
Who's in charge?
Who asked for this stuff???? Why don't we take all that money and save for this winter when people will need it for heating?
Or even still...redirect that $525,000 turf grant money and put it in a fuel assistance fund also.
